Interview with Lindsey Lomis in Nashville

Born and raised in the heart of Nashville’s finest talent, Lindsey Lomis rises to the top as an endearingly authentic singer/songwriter. The 18-year old proves time and time again that immeasurable talent, kindness, and honesty can be packaged into a single person. Lomis wrapped up her most recent touring endeavor with soulful 4-piece The Brook & The Bluff in her hometown of Nashville, TN this weekend, and I was lucky enough to chat with the young starlet to hear all about her impressive music journey so far!

It’s difficult to pin down the most striking aspect of Lindsey Lomis’s earnestly wonderful live performance. It was clear from the moment those first guitar chords strum through the speakers that Lomis had the sold out Basement East crowd wrapped around her finger. The talent of this young woman may lead you to believe the Nashville-native comes from an extremely musical family. During our chat after her set, Lomis explained that she is actually the only member of her family to dip their toes in the music industry.

Not at all! My parents are both in the medical field and my brother is an aerospace engineer. Aside from loving music and listening to it all the time, I found this path kind of on my own. Growing up in Nashville had a huge influence on me and it helped me gain a lot of mentors and support before I was anything. That is a really cool feeling to have their support from day one!

With candid honesty and an ear for outrageously catchy tunes, Lindsey Lomis puts in the work to craft music that is true to herself and her experiences. In 2018, one of her first singles “Simple Love” caught the attention of listeners and music industry professionals across the country. The track, a stunning blend of bedroom-pop melodies and gorgeous guitar riffs, put Lomis on the map as an up-and-coming artist who was quickly turning heads in the Nashville music scene.

After releasing a handful of singles and her debut EP “Chapter I” in January of 2019, Lomis continued to prove she was a force to be reckoned with. During the stillness of 2020, the rising starlet was creating music that felt fresh and real. Even at the young age of 18, Lindsey Lomis understands the importance of standing up for the sonic direction she is constantly striving for. It can be an intimidating feat to have a voice in vital music-making decisions, but Lomis says she surrounds herself with an incredible team of people who really understand her vision.

Lomis has already earned the respect of numerous big names in the music world, including nods from Justin Bieber, Meghan Trainor, Shawn Mendes, Alessia Cara, Joe Jonas, and JoJo. In fact, Lindsey was able to collaborate with the unbelievably talented JoJo on her 2020 single “Slow Motion” that currently sits at 1.4 million streams on Spotify alone. As if that wasn’t already the coolest collaboration of all time, JoJo and Lindsey joined forces to film the official music video for “Slow Motion”. Check it out below:

In a beautiful moment of coming full circle, Lindsey Lomis got to close out her 2021 support tour with The Brook & The Bluff surrounded by the immense love of her hometown Nashville crowd this weekend. Lomis truly left her heart and soul on The Basement East stage, complete with jaw-dropping instrumentals and a wicked sense of humor. I stood in the back of the venue, watching each and every audience member absolutely melt in the presence of Lindsey’s ethereal vocals.

Lindsey Lomis’s inevitable rise to stardom is such a thrill to watch. At only 18 years old, this young woman stands as a beacon of strength and success for other up-and-coming artists fighting to find their place in such a vast industry. With music carefully crafted from authentic life experiences, Lomis stands out with her fresh perspective and feel-good pop sounds. Lucky for us, Lindsey says the new year is about to give us a whole lot more from the singer/songwriter.

We’re working on putting out new music at the top of the year. I feel like I finally have figured out which songs I want to release, what direction I want to head in, and especially who I want to be as an artist.
