Single Review: Be With You by Luna Kat

New York City based Luna Kat is truly doing it all. Making music from her bedroom while also responsible for the video production and graphic design behind the tracks, she has created art like no other - from the music, to the visuals, and everything in between. Growing up between a variety of cities including New York City, Sydney, and Shanghai, Luna has seen the world and utilizes these experiences and perspectives in her songwriting. These aspects give her a unique perspective and set her apart from the rest.

Seen most recently through two singles the singer-songwriter has put out over the past few months, Luna is captivating listeners with every new release. It’s been a busy year for the artist, from “what’s love,” (April 2021), “be with you,” (May 2021), to “anxiety,” (August 2021), her work has only evolved. Perhaps the most unique aspect about her individual artistic brand are the lyric videos produced in tandem with each new release.

An incredibly artistic soul, Luna Kat is particularly inspired by her global influences and the intersections between the art and music scenes. Producing bedroom pop made right in her own bedroom, her sound and style definitely make her one to watch for.

On “be with you” specifically, Luna shares that “This song is about finding a soul you connect with, and how that connection shifts your perception of the world. Things that seemed important before are now trivial, yet somehow little moments like simply being with them now mean so much. It is inherently a romantic song, but could apply to other types of relationships too.”

From discussing the positive aspects of a relationship in verse one to the negative ones in verse two, the track carries listeners throughout the ups and downs often coming with romantic involvement or namely any involvement or relationship with others. Although explained well by the singer-songwriter, to be most understood, we recommend listening to the track yourself. It can be streamed wherever you listen to music, and the stunning lyric video can be found below!
