Sweet Innocence by Kaciny

Kaciny

This beautiful song marks the passing of time and growth in the most poignant and thought-provoking way. I love the imagery of “I looked up at the sun through the cherry trees” that really works to ground the reader in the moment. Subtle strings accompany the wholesome acoustic guitar alongside light percussion. The bridge of the song especially is a powerful Broadway-esque moment that you’ll have to listen to for yourself. For an instant warm hug and an introspective moment or two, listen to this song on repeat.

Planned Abandon by Joe Lynott

This alternative rock song is built from grit, angst, and lots of rock ‘n’ roll. I loved the sonic dynamics and the way the poetic lyrics are layered up against the rhythms of the instrumentals. Stylistically, it reminds me of a Disney villain’s introduction song leading into their masterful plan for their schemes. Wherever this song takes you, I know without a doubt that it will inspire you to dream big and chase down what’s important to you in your life.

Deep Down by Jessie Phelps

This gorgeous track made me think of something that Florence and the Machine might write. With a catchy hook of starting the song with the lyrics “Can you help me back up?” is such an intriguing way to draw listeners in. Sonically, the bright and airy vocals blend seamlessly with the ambient instrumentals that sound like a breezy summer evening. For an alt rock track that will transport you into your best self, listen to this one on blast with the windows down and a cold glass of unsweetened ice tea in your hand.

Wildfire Woman by Michelle Raybourn

The delectable acoustic guitar really shines in this song as the beautiful vocals tell the haunting story of love and loss. While I would place it in the country genre as something akin to Lady Antebellum or The Band Perry, the storytelling suggests it would fit just as well in a folk context as well. I loved this intriguing mix of sensory lyrics and instrumental articulation alongside the emotive string section. If you’re looking for a sultry mix of emotional and a hint of angst, this song's just the ticket. I love the intriguing guitar and string solos that really drive home the emotional lyrics as well.

Touch Ground by Zoë Ferris

For a breath of fresh air and to clear your head, listen to this song for an instant therapy session. It’s a beautiful love letter to the people in your life that are always there for you. While the ambience quickly drew me in, the sonic dynamics also added so much to the overall experience. While her style is very similar to A-list pop artists like Taylor Swift and Gracie Abrams, her vibe and approach to her music truly is all her own. With intricate melodic harmonies and nuanced staccato rhythms layered in between the layers of the track, there are plenty of places to sink into a deep feeling of love and acceptance.
