Interview: Dubba-AA

We in it, doing in it,Dubba-AA shares right off the bat, “It’s time to make history with it,” he adds. It’s with no doubt that the artist, producer, and instrumentalist Dubba-AA is doing it all. From working with legends such as Kodak Black, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Wayne, and more, to embarking on a career as a solo artist, Dubba-AA continues to impress.

His creative process is unique; the vibe is everything to him. From particular scents (exotic sandalwood) to the LED lights, Dubba-AA needs to be in the zone. He prepares for each session by listening to old Gospel music and when he can’t get inspired, he has video games on standby. The most important thing to him is being an artist, “I love to hear people reciting my lyrics. I love hearing people telling me that my music affected them,” he shares, “It’s different when you have someone coming up to you and saying ‘your song is exactly what I was feeling, your emotions are my emotions.’” As a typical Leo, Dubba-AA strives to be an artist on the forefront, amongst the flashing lights with listeners tuned in.

Dubba-AA is not just a typical artist. He is a journey. He is a field trip of the ears. When you were a kid, we were very excited to go on field trips. When you listen to my music I want you to be as equally excited and I can take you on a rollercoaster ride. It’s a steady increase of climax, you never fall off the ride. And you’re begging for more.

Invested in music since childhood, Dubba-AA shares that his father would bring him with to the local church where he played drums. Since birth, Dubba-AA has been involved in the music scene, even as a baby in the baby carrier soaking in the rhythmic sounds of his father’s drums. After years of absorbing this energy, he began to go straight for the drumset as soon as he could walk. He credits his drumsticks for his success and shares that he wouldn’t be where he is today without them.

Dubba-AA has a wide variety of records already, featuring styles ranging from rap to more R&B. From “The Flex Tape” to “The Flex Tape 2” to “The Flex Tape 3,” each showcases a different side of the multifaceted artist and producer.

In the next coming months, “All I Need” is anticipated to release (you can presave it HERE.) Serving as his debut single as a signed artist, Dubba-AA cannot wait for new fans and listeners to experience the world that is Dubba-AA.
