Interview: Dasha
Absolutely explosive and unapologetic with every word, California based singer-songwriter Dasha is on the rise and exactly what you need to hear right now. With her debut EP “$hiny Things” under her belt, she continues to thrive in authenticity while mastering her craft.
We at Tongue Tied Mag were able to sit down with the artist to get the inside scoop on everything going on in this alt-pop girl’s world that we’re all living in. From releasing her debut EP to an intimate new music video to her latest single “TALK” that premiered TODAY, 2021 has truly been a whirlwind of excitement, with only more projects to come. After attending numerous vocal workshops, songwriting camps, and perfecting her brand, the singer-songwriter continues to develop who she is. While pursuing a career in the music industry, she also chose to attend Belmont University, which gave her a unique experience within sound; the ability to blend her Californian roots with her newfound Tennessee influences create a captivating sound like no other.

Empowerment is a common theme within Dasha’s music. Influenced by the powerful women who came before her, and seeking to inspire the next generation of powerful women that will be influenced by her, Dasha is strong, confident, and making big waves in the music industry.
“I think about the women who came before me — my grandma was the only woman in her medical school class, and she was pregnant at the time — I think about my mom and my sister, who are so smart and confident, and keep going and pushing even harder than before ... I get an idea and think, ‘Oh my God, I have to write this song.’ I’m obsessed.”
Described as confident, creative, and calculated, “TALK” casts a new light on the often unseen parts of a budding relationship. From the mind games to the extensive questions and uncertainty, “TALK” highlights it all. Dasha shares that, “"TALK" is all about taking back the power and about the karma around 'you get what you give.' It’s the perfect finale for ‘hot girl summer.’ Maybe it’s because I’m 21, bored, and resilient as hell but I only talk to guys when there’s some type of game involved. It’s not fun if it’s easy..."
With new music video for her intimate and emotional track “Nervous” released less than two weeks ago, and now a new single, Dasha’s hard work, resilience, and determination to thrive and succeed is clearly visible. Gaining fans and followers exponentially, Dasha is on the rise and only going up.
