Feature: Catching Up with Baylee Littrell ahead of the Jonas Brothers Tour
Words by Angelina Singer
If you’ve been following this magazine for a bit, you might remember my recent chat with Baylee Littrell — the son of Backstreet Boy Brian Littrell, who is very quickly carving out his own name in the music industry. With mellow, faith-filled tune “Hey Jesus” gaining traction from his time on American Idol, leading up to his pop hit “So Be It” getting some attention with the more mainstream crowd, Baylee has a ton to celebrate. And most recently, in addition to his newest single “I’ve Had Enough,” he landed an opening spot on the next leg of the Jonas Brothers’ Burning Up Tour: All Over Again — easily the perfect spot for both his style and artistry to shine.
I got to ask him some more questions to expand on our longer conversation from a couple months ago, which you can read here!
AS: What has it been like to see your career grow so quickly in recent months?
BL: It’s truly been so amazing. I’m soaking up every minute of this. I have waited eight years for this moment so it’s very gratifying.
AS: How did the opportunity for this tour come about?
BL: It came about super fast. The Jonas Brothers went to see my dad’s show at the sphere in Las Vegas. Dad started playing the guys some of my music and then they gave me a great opportunity to jump on their tour. This moment definitely feels full circle since the Jonas Brothers opened for Backstreet when I was young.
AS: How do you feel you connect with fans of the Jonas Brothers? Which of their songs or albums do you most resonate with? Have you met them before, and are you looking forward to getting to know them more?
BL: I’m not sure if I met the guys before. I think I have and I wasn’t old enough to remember maybe. I do remember seeing them pop in to see BSB [Backstreet Boys] perform while they were on tour when I was about 8 or so. I remember seeing Kevin [Jonas] and he waved at me and I got super excited.
AS: Reflecting once more on your American Idol experience, what do you wish you could tell that version of yourself that may have felt discouraged at the time?
BL: I would tell myself, I know it doesn’t seem likely, but there are promising days ahead. American Idol wasn’t meant to launch your career, it was meant to give you that extra confidence to take the next step and become a better version of yourself.
AS: What do you want your listeners to take away from your set on this tour? Can you share any exclusive intel on what your fans can look forward to from you on the Jonas Brothers tour?
BL: I’m super excited to announce that I’ll be performing all original music that will be on my upcoming album early next year.
